Holy Angels Carillon

Honoring the citizens of Wilmerding

CIAC Honors Wilmerding

In August of 2016, the CIAC purchased a Carillon for the citizens of Wilmerding. The eight bell, Schulmerich G5 Electronic Carillon, housed in the tower of Holy Angels Church, was presented to the Greater Glory of God in honor of the Citizens of Wilmerding.

  • Each day the carillon plays Westminster on the hour and rings out the hour.
  • A single bell strike rings on the half hour.
  • The Angelus rings at 8 a.m., 12 noon, and 6 p.m.
  • Hymns play at 12 noon and 6 p.m. each day.
  • At sunset, the hymn, Now the Day Is Over plays, followed by Taps.
  • The peal of bells also rings to welcome Christmas at 12 midnight on Christmas Day.
  • On Memorial Day, patriotic music plays while people gather in Westinghouse Park for Memorial Day ceremonies.
  • The bells also ring to call people to worship before each mass at Holy Angels Church.
  • Upon the death of a resident of Wilmerding, the bells toll for three minutes.

For bells are the voice of the church. They have tones that touch and search the heart of young and old.
